It’s coming: the perfect storm is heading at max velocity towards Durban’s city streets, courtesy of Bridgestone Production Cars.
June 15/16 will see the fastest production cars in South Africa take to a new and improved Durban street circuit as part of the Top Gear Festival and the best tin-top pilots in the country aim to put on a show that meets or beats what Messrs James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson have to offer.
JAM-PACKED ACTION
South Africa’s premier motor racing series will be supported by the Cape Town-based V8 Masters series, Lotus 7 Register and the Porsche GT3 Challenge, for all the makings of an action-packed weekend.
Bridgestone Production Car frontrunner Melvill Priest says: "Racing on a street circuit gives you a special buzz: it's a challenge like no other and you've got to be so precise if you're going to be fast but safe."
"It also makes a nice change in terms of the crowd and the atmosphere is very different from a conventional track - I can’t wait to get out there in my Mueller Sports Audi S4!," said Priest.
LOCAL HERO
Durban star Shaun Duminy agrees: "I love racing here. Not only is it my home track but it focuses the senses like no other circuit in the country. Sure it’s unforgiving but the sport isn’t about letting the guy who makes the most mistakes win. I’m really looking forward to performing in front of a KZN crowd."
"It will also to be the first time Ford Racing has been in Durban with the new Ford Focus ST Ecoboost, so that’s another good reason to come and see us in action,” said Duminy.
Don't miss round five of the Bridgestone Production Car championship at the Durban street circuit on June 15/16 at the Top Gear Festival.
