Hyundai shows ix25 concept in Beijing

  • World debut for Hyundai’s small SUV concept
  • All-new Genesis showcases AWD system
  • 2014 products target younger customers

BEIJING, China - Hyundai has unveiled a concept ix25 SUV at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and calls it "another strategic pillar for Hyundai in the world’s largest auto market".

It will be launched for sale in China later in 2014.

Hyundai says: "The ix25 concept hints at a premium look based on Fluidic Sculpture design. Harmony between a bold front, voluminous side, sporty rear and other details complete the premium small SUV’s design.

"It has a Nu two-litre engine, overall length of 4270mm, overall width of 1780mm and overall height of 1630mm. The wheelbase is 2590mm."

YOUNGER CUSTOMERS

The ix25, the Korean automaker says, will mainly target younger customers looking for style and practicality. It will be launched, primarily in China, in the second half of 2014 to join the ix25, ix35, Santa Fe and Grand Santa Fe.

The all-new 3.0 GDI and 3.3 GDI Genesis also made its Chinese debut at the show, complete with an optional all-wheel drive system.

Aside from the two new models, Hyundai exhibited 18 other vehicles, among them its i20 World Rally championship car, ix35, Santa Fe, Equus limousine and Sonata Hybrid.
