Pretoria - Ford expands its Focus range with the addition of four new derivatives - all of which feature PowerShift six-speed auto transmission paired with the automaker's 1.0 EcoBoost engine.
The PowerShift and EcoBoost combination is available in both Ambiente and Trend specification for both the Focus five-door hatch and four-door sedan.
This brings the total number of local Focus derivatives to 14, including the two sizzling hot Focus ST variants.
The 1.0 EcoBoost delivers 92kW/170Nm and mated to the PowerShift auto, fuel consumption is rated of 5.5 litres/100km with emissions of 125 g/km.
Standard kit for Ambiente (entry-level) versions include remote central locking, front power windows and power side-mirrors, dual front and side airbags, power-assisted steering, a trip computer with EcoMode, temperature gauge and air conditioning.
The Focus uses an audio system with six speakers, a 4.2" screen, Ford SYNC with Bluetooth and voice control, as well as two USB ports, an auxiliary input and dual 12-volt power sockets.
Safety features include all-disc ABS brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Traction Control and Hill Launch Assist. Ford's latest second-generation MyKey system is also fitted as standard for programming selected driving and in-car entertainment features.
In Trend specification, the Focus 1.0 EcoBoost gains 16" dual-spoke alloys, foglights, cruise control with speed limiter, power windows (front and rear), curtain airbags and power child-proof rear door locks.
The Focus is also available with a 1.5 EcoBoost 132kW/240Nm which can be coupled with a either a six-speed manual or conventional six-speed auto.
A styling pack is available for five-door Trend models. It adds 17" alloys, a rear spoiler, privacy glass, auto headlights, adaptive bi-Xenons with LED daytime running lights, dual-zone climate control and power-adjustable and heatable folding side-mirrors.
The Driver Assistance Pack, optional for the Trend version, adds advanced driver assistance features - Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keeping Aid, Active Park Assist (with perpendicular and parallel parking), Pull-Out Assist, Active City Stop, rear-view camera, plus front and rear parking sensors.
