CAPE TOWN - The city of love as it's commonly known will show none towards cars on September 27 as the French capital bans all cars as part of 'Car-Free Paris' day.
Prominent areas, including the Champs Élysées, the Bastille, and Eiffel Tower, will play host to events in September.
The city area's include: 1st through 7th, 10th and 11th 'arrondissements' (city sections) will also be closed off.
FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY
The aim of Car-Free Paris is, organisers say, to make the beautiful city "devoid of traffic congestion, noise pollution and vehicle emissions. This will enable citizens and visitors to view the city's landscape and embrace the ambient sounds ordinarily drowned out by the noisy cars."
Car-Free Paris day coincides with a United Nations climate conference and European Mobility Week, and the aim to is try and raise awareness for the possibilities for car-free cities as well as a statement about the environment.
