SA helps Infiniti to record global sales

   • Record-breaking streak
   • Global premium brand goal
   • Strong product line-up

HONG KONG, China – Infiniti sold its most new vehicles yet in the first half of 2015 - 103 500, which is 13% more than in the same period of 2014 and included record sales here  in South Africa.

Infiniti delivered the record on the back of a record 2014 and for the first time sold more than 100 000 units in the first six months. The brand also set corporate records in China, Asia and Oceania and in the EMEA market (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Key individual markets also recorded records, among them Canada, Mexico, South Africa and Australia.

Infiniti says June was its best-yet global sales month - more than 16 800 vehicles. That's an increase of about 2500 vehicles or 17% over June 2014. In fact, from September 2014 to June 2015, Infiniti has been on a streak of 10 consecutive best months.

RANK JUMP

Roland Krueger, Infiniti's president, said: “Infiniti has been building a lot of momentum in the past two years but it would not have been possible without the trust and support of our dealer partners and customers. We will continue to progress to being a Tier 1 global premium brand.”

In the Americas (US, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America), Infiniti delivered more than 70 700 vehicles in the first half of 2015, an increase of eight percent over the same period in 2014. In the JD Power 2015 US Initial Quality Study released in June, Infiniti improved to fifth overall (from 23rd in 2014), the greatest improvement of any brand.

In China, Infiniti’s second-largest single market, the company reached a half-year record of close to 19 000 vehicles, an increase of 36% year-on-year. June 2015 was also the best June in Infiniti China’s history - more than 3300 vehicles and a 33% increase over 2014.

The automaker significantly outperformed the overall automotive market in China, which has slowed considerably.

STRONG PRODUCTS

In the highly competitive EMEA region, Infiniti sold almost 11 200 vehicles, an increase of seven percent and a record for the first half of the year. Infiniti also achieved its best half-year result in Asia and Oceania - more than 2600 vehicles, up 26% over the same 2014 period.

The sales growth has been spurred by a strong product offering led by the new Q50 sports saloon. Beyond Q50, Infiniti laid out plans to further expand its portfolio based on concept cars introduced through the previous two years: Q30 Concept, Q60 Concept and QX30 Concept.

The Q30 production version will be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show in September. The car will go on sale in Europe towards the end of the year with other markets following shortly afterwards. The Q30 will be Infiniti’s first compact car.

The brand also increased its global dealer network by about nine percent through 2014 to 490.
