McLaren: Whitmarsh out, Dennis the boss

LONDON, England - Martin Whitmarsh has formally left the McLaren Formula 1 team after being ousted from the role of team principal in January 2014.

A team spokesman said on Tuesday (August 26): "McLaren and Martin Whitmarsh have agreed amicably to part company."

DENNIS RETURNS

Whitmarsh had been with the team for 24 years and took over from former team boss Ron Dennis, the man who is now back in charge, as principal in 2009.

Eric Boullier is racing director of the former champion team which has not won a race since the 2012 Brazilian GP. McLaren is fifth overall in the 2014 Constructors' points.
