Kia spruced its Sportage, currently in its third generation, in 2014 though in January 2015, the automaker was spotted testing a new-generation of its popular SUV near the Arctic Circle.
Spy photographers captured images of the new SUV though it appears Kia will be conservative in terms of design changes for its next Sportage.
KX3 CONCEPT
At the front you can spot new wrap-around headlights, a bigger 'Tiger-nose' grille and some prominent foglights. Judging by the grille’s lower position, it’s visible how the model borrows design cues from the Kia KX3 concept.
The rear seems to be inspired by concept and apart from a new set of LEDs, there aren’t any noticeable changes yet.

The interior is not visible in the photos though the next Sportage will benefit from a redesigned dashboard, new materials and extra equipment.
NEW ENGINES
In terms of engines, the new Kia Sportage should receive an improved 100kW 1.6-litre CRDi as well as a 141kW R-Engine for the diesel line-up, while the petrol units will boast new 100kW 1.2-litre T-GDi, an upgraded 150kW 1.6-litre unit as well as a 182kW 2-litre T-GDi. A seven-speed dual clutch transmission will also be offered at launch.
The fourth-generation Kia Sportage is likely to be revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show in September.
