SAMSUN, Turkey - German driver Harold Muller has proved he is the king of drifting, long-distance drifting anyway, with an official world record for the longest vehicle drift.
Muller, behind the wheel of a modified Toyota 86, completed 612 laps in 2hr25min18 on a special 220m course in Samsun, Turkey, in July 2014.
Guinness World Records reports that his first attempt was disqualified but Muller achieved it on his second. Official Guinness rules state that any type of vehicle may be used. Muller‘s modified 2012 86 has an output of 197kW/235Nm.

A car is drifting when the “rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn". To help preserve his tyres Muller performed his longest drift on wet ground... not exactly in the spirit of drifting.
Muller smashed the record held by Johan Schwartz who in May 2013 drifted for 82.5km or 322.5 laps around the 256m skid pad at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina, USA, behind the wheel of an unmodified 2013 BMW M5.
