Would you wear this darling little 50s frock?

Julie says:
The pin calls it a “darling” tea-length, and I’m struggling to come up with a more apt way to describe this dress.

The colour, the silhouette and the classic neckline are flattering. The lack of embellishment had me thrown at first, but there’s something magical about the dress being a completely blank slate; waiting to be etched with the details of your marriage.

White at a wedding is not about virginity and purity; it’s about setting up the clean canvas upon which you’ll paint your life together.

The length is very modern, but a definite option for short people who struggle to pull off long, sweeping gowns without tripping down the aisle.

This dress suits a quiet, afternoon wedding in a garden with nothing but close friends and family to bear witness. I see colourful T-bar shoes and a bright lip rounding off this look.

Layla says:
I love the simple elegance this dress exudes and while it may look frivolous at first glance, with the right accessories and on the right bride, it becomes a sophisticated masterpiece.

The A-line silhouette of this dress and how it would emphasise a tiny waist is a definite plus. Perhaps a little bit of detail on the belt section of the gown could be added, especially if you were going to have no headgear. But if you opt for a short veil, this dress is perfect as is.

I can picture Julie rocking this dress. She’d be a dream floating down the aisle in this frock, exchanging vows with her debonair man and then ballroom dancing the night away at her very classy wedding reception.

Even though there is nothing provocative about this dress, it is out of the question for me. Being a future potential Muslim bride, the length and lack of sleeves will have all the aunties skinnering until the next “scandal” hits the town.
