How to book a secret honeymoon destination

accreditation
The honeymoon is the first holiday you and your partner will have as a married couple and the memories made on this holiday will be memories that will stick around for you with the rest of your life.

Therefore, the honeymoon is just as important as the wedding itself, adding extra pressure if you are planning to surprise your new wife or husband with the perfect honeymoon.

Some even say that the honeymoon is important in forecasting how the rest of your marriage is going to pan out. If it is a bad honeymoon, it is likely to be a bad omen,  which gives you all the more reason to plan the perfect getaway.

Now you have most likely planned your wedding day between the pair of you, and it is your turn to step up to the plate and plan a honeymoon that you both will remember forever.

You may be asking yourself where do we go? And how do I keep it a secret?

Get the most for your money

One tip that you will hear time and time again when planning your honeymoon is that the best time to book it, is out of high season.  This includes the summer and any national holidays such as Christmas.

What time of year you decide to go on your honeymoon depends on your wedding day date, and whisking your loved one away straight from the wedding will win big points in the romantic stakes.

The prices in the high season are noticeably higher than prices in low season, therefore you will be paying a lot more money than you need to be.

This money that you save can therefore be spent on other elements of your honeymoon, like bumping yourselves up to the most expensive room in the hotel.

Research your destination

First things first, when planning a perfect destination for your new wife/husband you need to factor in what you think they would expect from a honeymoon.

Relaxing by the pool or on the beach in the sun might just be their idea of the perfect holiday as a newly married couple, or an activity filled week could be the way to their heart.

This may not be the first thing you think of when imagining your honeymoon but volunteering in a local orphanage or other charitable work for a day of your getaway would both fulfil and create fantastic memories for years to come.

If you research the local area where you are planning your honeymoon for, then it will most definitely pay off. If you're visiting somewhere out of the country or even down the road, then searching for the most gorgeous hotels, restaurants and hot spots in advance will save lots of precious time and not forgetting going the extra mile will certainly get you in the good books.

If you research the local area, you will be able to find quirky places to visit that will make your honeymoon different and memorable.

Hire a professional

A travel consultant’s job is to know the destination area well, have valuable contacts in the area and get you awesome deals and packages.

Therefore, if you use your computer to book all of your arrangements, not only will your partner catch you out easier, but you will most likely end up spending more money and you may miss out on tiny details.

A travel consultant will know the best restaurants to book dinner reservations in, they will have contacts with travel guides to give you a personal and outstanding tour around some of the most romantic and historic spots of your destination, and will be able to hook you up with great extras, such as bumped up plane tickets and a better suite in the hotel.

The hardest part

The hardest part of this all will be how to keep it a secret from your partner

This is especially hard for the groomsman, as it is a known fact that there is a private investigator hidden within every single woman, and therefore it will only be natural for her to be paranoid about what you are planning for your honeymoon.

However, keeping it a secret will make it even more special and surprising for your partner.  Here are some tips on how to do it.

If you do any research on the internet, make sure you do it all in a private browsing session, or in incognito mode as some browsers call it.

This will mean that your internet history will not be recorded, and therefore there will be no trace of the websites you visit to do your research on. You can enable this mode in your browsers security settings.

Let your travel agent or consultant know you are keeping it private, this way, if your partner gets in touch, they will know to keep it a secret, and therefore will not give it away.

Also, any phone numbers for travel consultants and any similar services, rename them under another generic name.

Hint, do not make this generic name a woman’s one if you’re a groom, and vice versa if you are the bride, she may get suspicious if you keep on calling Amanda for a few hours every day, and he may get suspicious if you are having lengthy calls with someone called Peter.

It would also be a good idea not to give the game away to small children, they can blow your cover in a matter of seconds, adults are sometimes no better so keep the details a secret from close friends and family or on a need to know basis only.

And last of all, keep it romantic using blindfolds (for secret destination purposes of course), champagne for the room on arrival, flowers are always a must, attention to detail will ensure the honeymoon of both your dreams.
