3 of the best reasons to get married in spring

accreditation
The best thing about spring (after the sunshine and flowers that is) is that there's such an infectiously romantic air about it that it makes for the perfect time to get married. And judging from some of our reader submitted weddings over the past couple of years, many of you certainly agree.

Here's why you should consider opting for a Spring wedding

1. The weather is a lot more likely to behave.

Ok, ok. We all know that as a rule, weather generally tends to be pretty unpredictable. However, spring time is a moderate season for the most part; which means it's neither too hot or too cold, and you can, for the most part, count on it not to rain.

2. Your venue options are more varied.

Especially if you want to have your wedding al fresco style. From garden weddings, to lakeside picnics and even beach weddings, the outside factor is a huge bonus. In winter (well, if you're in Cape Town at least), heavy rain may inevitably cause you to flail around trying to cover up (and sometimes, no matter how sturdy the gazebo you hired may be, it may just not be enough).

3. In-season flowers

Probably the most important part of the wedding decor, are the flowers. Come spring season and you'll find that there's an explosion of colourful blooms that should form part of every bride's bouquet and take centre stage at each and every table the guests will be seated.

The best thing about this is that during this season, flowers are easy to come by, and depending on the vendor, cheaper too. Trying to get blooms that grow in summer while you're getting married in winter is not only impractical, but is generally more expensive too. You don't want to have your flowers imported now, do you?

If that's not reason enough to get married in this bright, breezy and languid season, then I don't know what is.

Are you getting married soon? What season have you chosen and why?
