If you love someone, tell them in person

In response to the article Stop it, you’re making my eyes bleed Amy had this to say:

You made me laugh out loud!

I totally understand what you mean.  I come from a family that wasn’t always as affectionate with each other, but we do tell each other we love each other and we do always give kisses and hugs hello or goodbye.  We just aren’t the totally over the top sharing kind of family.

When my sister and I have been out together, we always message when we get home to say “home safe” or whatever, just so we know.  I remember one day my brother-in-law got hold of my sisters phone to send the goodnight message.

It was this very lovely dovey message to say night night and thanks for being a great sister and love you lots and lots and lots.  I knew it wasn’t my sister, cause that simply isn’t the kind of message we send to each other.  Ha ha!

About a week ago I posted a little comment on my sister’s page (very unlike me), it had been a particular trying day and I find that sometimes it is nice to share with everyone how much you care about someone.

I do find that I always tell my friends how much I care about them though, sometimes I think too much, but as you say, it’s done in person – if you care about someone –TELL THEM!  It is lovely to share your message with the world, but sharing it with privately is just as lovely, if not more.

I do get totally annoyed by people who constantly post on their significant others wall to say how much they love each other etc.  Maybe it’s just me being completely cynical because I’m single and I get annoyed too easily with the PDA.

I somehow don’t see the point of telling the person you will see in a couple of hours at home, how much you love them all over social media – unless of course this person is away and you cannot say it to their face.

But who am I to judge?
