Summer is most definitely my favourite time of year. I love to swim and be outside, yet these elements can reek havoc on my skin, hair and nails.
Give your hair, skin and nails a rest this summer with these key tricks:
Hair
1. Take your hair conditioner to the beach with you and apply a small amount to the ends of your hair after coming out of the water. Believe me this will keep your hair hydrated, even with the salty sea water.
2. Wear a hat or turban to minimise your exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays.
3. Try to air dry your hair as often as possible - no need to use a hairdryer in this heat! And if your hair dries really funny, rather use a heat-styling tool to correct your style after air drying. Remember to always apply a heat styling protective serum.
4. Avoid brushing your hair. Rather opt for a Tangle Teezer or a wide-toothed comb - this will be less harsh on wet hair and will prevent hair damage.
5. Braid it. Go for a loose braid on the beach this summer, like the fishtail plait. When hair is pulled back tightly or plaited too harshly it can lead to breakage.

Skin and Nails
1. Leave the lip balm. Contrary to popular belief, lip balms often lock moisture out. Rather exfoliate chapped lips with a gentle scrub or use cucumber to soothe sunburnt or damaged pouts.
2. Moisturise. As in as much as you can. Use something like Nivea or Vaseline Intensive Care on your body, then try to splurge on a good moituriser for your face with a high SPF (40 is usually sufficient).
Also make sure you have a proper hydrating serum to use at night. Try CHANEL's Hydra Micro Beauty Serum, it will aid all of your moisturising needs.
3. In summer we are either bare foot or wearing sandals, which is why you need to take care of your feet. No need for them, to be perfectly manicured at all times, but a good 1 minute pumice stone session in the shower every morning will do wonders for cracked heels.
Also remember to moisturise those feet every night before you go to bed. Try Eucerin's Original Healing Soothing Repair Creme, it does wonders for dry skin. Drench you feet, or any other area of your body experiencing dry skin, in this once a week.
4. Wear very little makeup. Rather opt for colourful nails or add a touch of shimmer to your look with CHANEL's Le Vernis in Paradisio – limited edition.
Also remember to remove chipped nail varnish immediately instead of peeling it off yourself. This can cause damage to the nail. Rather remove and repaint.
5. Take care of your eyes. The skin around the eyes are the thinnest layer of skin on your body and thus also the most sensitive to sun.
Be sure to use a good eye cream every night before you go to bed, like Lancôme's fantastic new VISIONNAIRE YEUX Advanced Eye Contour Perfecting Corrector.
