How to love the body you have: part 1

accreditation
If I ask you to name 3 things you LIKE about your body shape, could you?

Many women really struggle with this exercise because most of us spend so much time focusing on the parts we don’t like instead of what we do.

It’s all about shifting focus. Easier said than done, right? In this four part article series, I’m going to be giving you some very practical ways to improving your body image.

Get ready to step outside your comfort zone. If you want to bring about change, then you have to be willing to be a little uncomfortable, but it will be worth it.

Step 1:

To start with, I’d like you to stand in front of a full-length mirror. You can be fully clothed if you feel more comfortable.  Name at least 1 thing you like about your body shape (your hands, feet and face don’t count).

If this is hard, keep working at it. When your critical voice starts harping on all the things you don’t like, just stop, take a deep breath and shift your focus.

It could be your broad shoulders, defined waist, long legs, round butt, voluptuous breasts, curvy hips, small frame etc.

If you already have one thing you like, then move to two… three… and more.  Wherever you are in your relationship with your body, there is always room for improvement.

Persist with this exercise.  Remember, it takes time to create a new habit.  If you are in the habit of thinking negatively about your body shape, it’s going to take some time to replace your negative habit with a positive one.

I’d love to hear how you find this exercise? Let’s start a conversation about this. Many women feel alone in their self-loathing, but you are not alone. Let’s step out of the shadows and support each other in creating a new found love for the bodies we have.
