How to make cute and unique hair accessories

You Need

  • white hair clips
  • coloured hair elastics
  • decorations (for example artificial flowers, brightly coloured buttons and so on)
  • thick cardboard
  • pretty paper
  • paper punch
  • ribbon

To Make

1 First gather together all your decorations – see what you can find at scrapbooking shops – and stick them onto each clip or elastic band with a strong glue, such as Bostik Super Glue Gel.

2 While you are waiting for the glue to dry, make the labels. For the round ones, use a glass to draw circles on the cardboard. Cut them out and then use spray glue to stick on some pretty paper. Remnants of scrapbooking paper or giftwrap will work well. Trim the paper neatly around the edges of the cardboard. For more detail we used a slightly smaller circle of a magazine photo of a fashion model and stuck it on top of the big circle. We made the square label in the same way, except we used a craft knife and metal ruler to cut it out.

3 For the finishing touch, attach a ribbon to each label. For the square labels simply punch a hole through all the paper layers and tie a ribbon through. For the round labels use your craft knife to cut a slit through all the paper layers, slightly wider than the ribbon. Fold the ribbon in a loop and pull it through the slit so that the points are to the back of the label. Stick the points to each other with double-sided tape and use more tape to stick to the label.
