When it started we used to joke about it call it MaShezi, Eishkom and all sorts of funny crazy names but now it is really getting out of hand. It makes me yawn.
It happened one Sunday when we were planning a welcome back family supper for our mom who was in hospital. By the time we fetched her we were preparing her to meet the whole family and welcoming her with warm lunch - well let me say that what we hoped our Sunday welcome will be.
In the middle of my cooking, I remember very well I was cooking beef curry, rice, salads and was going to make her favourite as well ‘amadumbe’, the lights just went off.
I was so mad! My sister was the one fetching mom with the car. I had no other choice but to contact her. When I tried to call my sister boom! Voicemail.
I was hoping to tell her to pass by restaurants so that we were covered. Unfortunately I was only able to leave a message and had no idea when she was going to get it.
I even thought ‘if only we could download full meals via internet’ as my phone had so much data. To cut it short- we welcomed my mom with only drinks and snacks as the food was not ready. What a cold welcome in winter!
