Man wears 12 layers of clothing to save on airline baggage costs

While wearing all your clothes to save money on airline baggage costs might seem like a funny thing at first, we’re pretty sure it’s something you’ll soon regret.

And this guy did just that.

James McElvar, singer for the boy band Rewind, tried to get around paying £45 (just over R870) in excess baggage fees on a flight from the English capital to Glasgow. The 19-year-old wanted to take a small rucksack and suitcase with him on board, but budget-airline, Easyjet Airlines only allows one piece of hand luggage per person.

So, of course, James, in his infinite wisdom, decided the only logical thing to do was empty his bag and wear all the contents.

He proceeded to faint due to heat exhaustion.

James was reportedly told by paramedics that he was “lucky to be alive”, after he vomited and then had to be given oxygen, according to the BBC.

James is apparently fine now, according to the band’s Twitter account, but we hope he’s learned his lesson.

Note to self, don’t wear 12 layers of clothing. It’s not going to end well. And, while I know this isn’t supposed to be remotely funny, but every time I think about it, I can only imagine this...
