Would a man obey a woman in charge?

Would you let a Christian Grey in your life rule the whole relationship without your input, or would it be easy for men to be submissive to a woman’s demands contracted on a piece of paper?

I am, yet again, reading the infamous book 50 shades of grey by E L James, a fiction, romantic and deep sexy book which has gotten me to want every attention of it.

The book speaks about a naïve 21-year old; Anastasia Steele, who meets a charming rich philanthropist, Christian Grey, and immediately has her heart in his hands to do anything with it. Halfway through the book, the beautiful man, who also has me in his heart, is seen to be a dominant with demands on how his “relationship” with Ana should be like, by having her sign a contract where the she is a submissive.

Every day I get hooked on both characters and decipher to think if relationships should become fiction.

Reading about the connection of both characters makes me compare real life real-lationships with real human beings. Should relationships have a list of “what to do, when, how, and where, without they why question?

Christian Grey is beautiful, the type that only a typical female creature would dream of, and yet dominant at the same time. He is the type of man that makes his presence known and felt without words and when he begins to breathe out letters, only a typical lady would have her heart skip a beat, well only a few of those exist.

If all men were to be like the fiction character, I am skeptical to reject if at all there would be less cheating, just by having their women sign some sort of agreement contract.

“The Submissive will obey any instructions given by the Dominant immediately with¬out hesitation or reservation and in an expeditious manner,” this is an extract from the “obedience” rules of Grey.

However, though Christian is a charming young man every woman would dream of dating, he has quite the opposite feel to the needs of women and yet he still makes a woman fall in love with him with the hope of being a change of the exception in his little game.

‘Anastasia, you should steer clear of me. I’m not the man for you.’

‘I don’t do the girlfriend thing.’

‘I’m not a hearts and flowers kind of guy.’

‘I don’t make love. ‘This is all I know.’

These lines alone are enough for a real woman to re-consider having a relationship with the man involved to be his dominant.  Ana as well wants some commitment matters from his lover, but she cannot have as she cannot even touch him, as instructed in one of the rules.

Women may need Christian Grey in their lives, but the generation of today has turned out to be a little different from that of our grandparents.

There are the Ana types, those that will submit themselves to whatever need a man may require from her, and there will be no questions asked, then there will be the Kate type, (Ana’s friend in the book), women who are stubborn, they change their minds very often and love to them does not need rules from men.

If the roles were reversed in the book, Ana would be the one dominating the game-type of relationship and she would be the one handing the contract to Christian to sign and play by her rules.

However, what if, in real life, women would also draw up a list of demands to be signed by men? What if the rules were to be created like this?

•    You will not shake hands with other women; you are mine and everything that belongs to you is mine.

•    You are not to smile and be intimate with them as well, that is reserved for me, your dominant woman.

•    You are the submissive, everything I say, you will obey and it is not up for discussion.

I can only imagine the silent music men could dance to as that is what fiction reading has programmed us into wanting to change behaviors of the people we are involved with.  But real relationships do not come prepared and with a written script, they are exercised to suit the needs of each other, provided communication is involved.

Would you go that far?
