Help stop the Cape Town fire

accreditation
Three days after it began, firefighters are still battling the fire that has spread across the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.

According to News24, many people have been evacuated from their homes and the fire has ravaged thousands of acres of land thus far.

While it is advised that people do not go near the affected areas, you can still lend a helping hand by donating money to the Volunteer Wildfire Services.

The MOSAIC Training, Service and Healing Centre for Women, have gathered up R1000 to donate to the Volunteer Wildfire Services to help towards operational services and are urging other NGOs and people to match their donation.

MOSAIC is an NGO dedicated to preventing and reducing abuse and domestic violence, particularly against women and children.

They have decided to donate this small amount of money on behalf of their community and the thousands of survivors of domestic violence in our country. For them it serves as a token to say that just as this fire must and will be stopped, domestic violence and abuse must also be eradicated from our society.

They will also be teaming up with VWS providing trauma counselling services for the heroic volunteers.

According to News24 you can also help by donating food and drinks for the Volunteer Wildfire Services. Donations can be dropped off at Newlands Fire Base, Lakeside Fire Station or Fish Hoek Fire Station.
