9 things you probably didn’t know about Emmy Awards host Seth Meyers

The former Saturday Night Live head writer, actor, comedian, and now late night presenter is set to host the Emmy Awards this Tuesday, and we’re sure it will be a fantastic show. Why?

He’s super funny, charismatic and his two best friends are Andy Samberg (from SNL and Lonely Island fame) and one half of our favourite award show duo, Amy Poehler. Maybe Amy and her BFF Tina Fey will give Seth a few tips on how to be awesome at hosting? Or he could just call up Ellen DeGeneres. But he can probably handle it on his own – he has won three Emmys.

So here’s a few things you may not know about him...

He interviewed his actor brother, Josh, on his show and it was basically a mini family therapy session. The audience got an insight into their family dynamic and it was hilarious.

He was part of an improv group in college called Mee-Ow.

He has the cutest dog ever! Her name is Frisbee and she’s an Italian Greyhound. He did a bit on his show, Late Night With Seth Meyers, about “extreme dog-shaming” which included this picture of his pooch:

He loves cheese and cried when he watched Jersey Boys.

He was the keynote speaker at the White House Correspondent’s dinner back in 2011, and totes gabbed with Michelle O.

He’s extremely charitable. He’s participated in events for New York Collaborates for Autism, the Robin Hood Relief Fund for Hurricane Sandy, Stand Up for Scleroderma, the National Resource Defense Council, and many others.

He was one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2014

He feels like his celebrity crush, Madonna, is “entitled to half (his) earnings”, since he’s been fantasising about her for so long. Slightly creepy, but okay, Seth.

He worked on SNL for 13 years and took the subway to work every single day from his West Village apartment. Fame isn’t getting to his head.
