During Yahoo!’s recent Kids Q&A for The Amazing Spiderman 2, Andrew Garfield made a sexist generalisation, and Emma Stone totally called him out on it. In a totally cool way, of course.
One of the kids in the audience asked how Spiderman got his costume, and Andrew replied that he (meaning Spiderman) made it with his bare hands after taking some sewing classes which “is kind of a feminine thing to do”, but a “very masculine” costume was the end product.
To which Emma replied “It’s feminine how?” and the crowd reacted immediately.
Andrew replied to the question saying things like we all have a feminine side, and then Jamie Foxx replied with a cute joke. But we all got a sense that Andrew might be explaining that comment for years to come.
Plus, we’re totally proud of Emma for calling out her beau instead of just letting his subtle sexism slide.
