According to Channel24, 26-year-old English singer Jessie J, wanted to keep her Sweet Talker album cover au natural. Yet, she recently said in an interview with OK! magazine that she just couldn’t deal with the cellulite on her legs.
Now, while we understand Jessie’s reservations about her ‘unsightly’ wrinkles around her thighs, we can’t help but wish that she let it be. She’s beautiful and she has an amazing body – cellulite and all.
But I can understand in a society where perfection is everything that Jessie felt the pressure to be perfect and she decided to photoshop her thighs. Maybe she thought it would sell more albums. Or maybe she's like every other woman out there and just hates seeing her flaws.
Women are taught to have unrealistic expectations of what their bodies are supposed to look like, because of models and celebrities being overly airbrushed. Looking, well, plastic.
Look at this GIF of Britney Spears, for example. Brit released the untouched images from her along with the Photoshopped ones back in 2010.
Britney is a beautiful woman with a perfectly beautiful body, yet we’re lead to believe that she’s NOT perfect and therefore we should all praise the wonderfulness that is Photoshop.
No. Stop it. Just stop.
Natural is beautiful. If Jessie J had gone with a completely natural album cover, I would have sung her praises. The world definitely needs to see more women looking like women, instead of artificial bodies with perfect bottoms and blemish-free skin.
