Keira Knightley: ‘Don’t Photoshop my boobs’

Keira Knightley recently commented on her shoot for Interview magazine, where she appears topless, in a sit-down with The Times.

According to the Daily Mail, the British actress has spoken out about how often her body gets manipulated for photo shoots or movie posters and intended to make a statement about her body shape and size with her latest shoot.

Keira says she agreed to do the topless shot as long as the magazine didn’t “make them any bigger or retouch.” She feels it’s important that the world knows, and hears her say, that it doesn’t matter what size or shape you are. She also compared the female body to a “battleground” and said that the art of photography is partly to blame.

And this isn’t the first time the actress has refused to have her chest touched up. Keira didn’t want any make up or retouching done in shots for her 2008 film, The Duchess, even though studio bosses apparently wanted her to.

This move seemed to come after her chest was famously enhanced for posters of the 2004 flick, King Arthur. In Europe, the posters showed Keira’s natural assets, but in the US, her bosom looked rather ample.

Check out Keira’s untouched topless picture, which was taken by renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier, here.

Isn’t she gorgeous? And the best part is that you can really tell that the image hasn’t been retouched because you can see the size difference between her breasts.

I think it’s great that Keira chose to not edit her body, but will this image make a difference? Will other stars follow suit? Will women of all shapes and sizes choose to do untouched photo shoots to reclaim how the female body is portrayed? Should they?

What do you think?
