According to Channel24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Neil Patrick Harris will host the 87th Academy Awards on 22 February 2015.
And it’s seriously awesome.
Yes, Ellen DeGeneres was amazing this year and there have been so many great hosts from years before, but we feel really excited about this and mostly because we know he’s done an awesome job hosting award shows before.
These are the reasons why we can’t wait to see Neil in action at next year’s Oscars:
He’s got the stamp of approval
He’s won five Emmy awards, four of which were for hosting the Tonys, and been nominated for four Gloden Globes. The man’s got talent.
He’s got some sick moves
Have you seen some of his dance numbers? The man can shake his groove thang and he can sing too. Check out his opening number from the Tonys 2013
He’s an amateur magician
During his performance of his opening number at the Tonys 2013, Neil really impressed the audience by disappearing from the stage and reappearing dancing down the aisle.
He’s got lots of famous friends
He got Mike Tyson to dance with him on stage, Kevin Spacey to give a rather thrilling, but hilarious monologue, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler tried to convince him to twerk on stage and got Brooke Shields and Stephen Colbert to sing for him at the Tonys in 2011. Which means he’ll probably outdo Ellen’s celebrity selfie this year and we cannot wait to see how.
His announcement about his hosting gig was adorable
NPH shared a video of himself ending a call with the words “I’m in!” and then crossing “Host the Oscars” off his bucket list.
So get your popcorn ready. Neil Patrick Harris is about to blow this baby right out of the water.
