Samuel Meyiwa, father of the late Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, has gone viral on social media. The hashtag #NotSenzosDad started trending after an image of Samuel leaning out of a car and waving to the crowd while he was leaving the packed Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban was shared on social media.
Many speculate that it was an emulation of a pose that his son began doing on the soccer field.
So, of course, Twitter decided to emulate Senzo’s dad. Everyone from celebrities to just random tweeters have joined in on the funny hashtag which is meant to be paying homage to the soccer player whose life was tragically cut short after he was killed in Vosloorus while visiting his singer and actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.
