Variety has announced that Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones star, Sean Bean, has signed on to headline Devil's Peak. A film based on Deon Meyer’s SA bestseller.
The film is planned to launch a trilogy focusing on the adventures of the reoccurring role of detective protagonist, Benny Griessel who will be played by Sean Bean. Devil’s Peak is followed by 13 Hours and 7 Days and is produced by Malcolm Kohll, Ofir Kedar and Michael S. Murphey.
Devil's Peak’s producers are planning to start with production for September in Cape Town, South Africa.
Robbie Little’s The Little Film Co. is handling international sales and will introduce the project to foreign buyers for the first time in Cannes.
Producer Kohll said: “I believe that Deon Meyer will do for the South African thriller what Stieg Larsson did for the Scandinavian crime novel.”
Well I think this movie will put S.A on the map once more.
