The entire cast of Generations has been fired – will you keep watching?

According to Channel24, the SABC and MMSV productions have ended all contracts of striking cast members of this popular show.

Say what?! Now, while I haven’t been watching the soapie as religiously as some, I do think this might be the most rash decision the SABC has ever made. I mean, how are they going to fix this? Half the people I know who watch this show do so for characters like Queen or Ruby. While the other half are addicted to the drama surrounding the relationships between characters like Senzo and Nolunto.

Why were the actors striking and could their demands really have been so preposterous? The cast asked for extended 3 year contracts, better pay, and back payments for rebroadcasts and royalties for syndicated content.

Here’s a full story on their list of demands.

The actors who have been fired are:

Anga Makubalo (MJ),
Atandwa Kani (Samora),
Katlego Danke (Dineo),
Mandla Gaduka (Choppa),
Menzi Ngubane (Sibusiso),
Nambitha Mpulwana (Mawande),
Patrick Shai (Patrick),
Slindile Nodangala (Ruby),
Sophie Ndaba (Queen),
Seputla Sebogodi (Kenneth),
Thami Mnqolo (Senzo),
Thato Molamu (Nicholas),
Winnie Ntshaba (Khetiwe),
Zenande Mfenyana (Nolunthu),
Zikhona Sodlaka (Priska) and
Zolisa Xaluva (Jason).

With the show being so popular, you’d think actors asking for more pay would be more than fair. Guess not.
