Life is short, so make the most of it!

Life is collection of moments and people. These are the two real cogs of life. The rest is just add on’s.

We have no guarantee of our days, yet we live our lives as if it is infinite. Tomorrow could be my last... your last.

The hardest is knowing that those we cherish will share our fate, and there is no deal we can make to change that.

We are so absorbed in the artificial aspects of life, and those aspects won’t matter when you are on your deathbed and your life flashes in front of you.

Every time I experience something which rivets me, a death or a life changing incident, it makes me realize that we are not as invincible as we think we are.

We are so caught up in this spiral of craziness. We forget that we only live once, and if we do it right, once is enough.

We use the term ‘YOLO’ so loosely that it’s actually lost its essence.

No! I don’t mean let down your guard, give up your job and do everything you've always wanted to do. Don’t empty that bucket list in one go.

“YOLO” should mean appreciate every day, and quit stressing about the small stuff.

Give the news on TV a skip now and again. Most of it is bad and depressing.

Stop burdening yourself unnecessarily with pointless drama. Learn the difference between empathy and sympathy.

We are so scared to be happy, we tend to sabotage ourselves by allowing drama to surround us.

We are not fixed here, so why have we allowed everything else to make us paranoid about the variables of life?

We spend hours worrying about them. We let insignificant things preoccupy our day. We get angry, and we let sadness veil us. We don’t speak to people over trivial disagreements. We let others bring us down.

We let things that shouldn’t have any effect on our mood or mind, make indelible marks on it. We complain about never having enough, when we have enough we still complain.

All one hears is people, including myself, whining, because they are in a complete dissatisfaction zone.

There are people who hate their jobs, lives, days, and where they live. They hate their spouses, or the relationships they are in. They lose their temper over the neighbour’s dog barking incessantly. They get irritated even if you comb your hair differently.

How many times this week did you get angry at someone?

How many times today did you let a negative thought linger?

Is today a bad day for you? Why is it bringing you down, and why are you letting it?

We can be 18 or 50, but if we don’t realise the fragility of our existence, then we actually haven’t grown up yet.

We grow up when we realise that life is just so short. The only deal we can make is with ourselves:

We are here now, and we are given opportunity to eat, pray and love. To lie on the grass on a hot summers night and be mesmerised by the stars. To dance in the rain. To hug your loved one for no reason. To make someone smile when all they want to do is cry. To compliment instead of insult.

We are blessed. Life is one of the most beautiful gifts. They say “all good things come to an end”, well we were born to die.

It’s hard accept when you truly sit back and think about it. You will leave behind your family and friends. We go through this life avoiding the inevitable.

It matters little where or when or how. We have one moment in which to live and love. Make sure that moment is worth it. It will be a moment which will be priceless when you realise you are at the end. You won’t get the time back.

If you were to sketch the time line your existence, what would it look like?

Would you be happy with it when you sum it all up? Only the truly intrepid would be honest to admit if it was a life well lived. Wouldn’t it be totally fascinating to see if we appreciated the immeasurable value of life?

Make your life count for yourself and those around you before it counts down on you!
