In their “Fresh or Vrot” segment, Phenduka reckoned that the survival of the 16 year-old girl in this weekend’s horrific axe murder was “fresh” because she was the only person who could identify the killer.
He went on to say that she was “gorgeous” and that he would “like to axe her out.” But that he “wouldn’t X her.”
Many thought joking about this so soon after the brutal murder was not only in bad taste, but also indicative of the general tone of casual sexism often exhibited by the 5FM jocks.
The station has responded and said the matter is being investigated.
Phenduka has issued the following apology on Twitter:
