'The best part of my day is...'

The best part of my day is when I'm sitting on the train on my way to Stellenbosch University and I see all the familiar faces once again. Listening to their conversations always brings a smile to my face. The train ride is filled with gossip, hilarious stories and some upsetting, but its all part of life. And then everything starts all over again the next morning. It's like a home away from home. - Mary-Ann

The best part of my day is at the end. When I take time to reflect on what has happened in the day. It helps me to calm down and center myself. Life can sometimes be like a hamster on a wheel, just moving but not really going anywhere, but this time helps me to gain perspective on my actions and how I reacted to situations either positively or negatively. - Megan

I run my father's insurance brokerage firm and am sure everyone who's in/been in the same position as me, can agree that working with/for family is not easy and can add a lot of emotional stress to the job. The best part of my day is coming home, quietly switching off from the busy day and cooking a delicious meal for my fiancé (Marco). Cooking is very therapeutic and allows me to relax and de-stress. - Romy

The best part of my day is after supper when hubby and I are curled up on the couch relaxed watching TV and enjoying hot chocolate. :) - Tarynne

The best part of my day is when I get home after work and my kids immediately run towards me as soon as they see me walking down the street, just to give me a hug! It becomes a competition of who will reach me first – during this whole time they are laughing while running to me. That beats any growl/grumpy mood I had earlier. - Noma

The BEST part of my day is my early morning run. As a mother of four and a business owner, this is really the only time I can have just for myself and I relish it. I haven’t been able to go for about two months now, due to a nasty knee injury, but this is what that run is to me:

I plug in my earphones and set off, up the first hill of my local route. I love how my breath and steps synchronise with the music tempo and the sting of the cold on my face and shoulders becomes a soothing coolness as my body temperature rises.

I love how the voices and the things in my head start lining up and stop bickering amongst each other for space. I love watching the sun rise over still-sleeping suburbs and the changing of the light and the lightening of the colour of the sky from deep midnight to pale blue.

I love the sense of accomplishment at the end of every run and the feeling of re-freshness and well being that follow me throughout the day afterwards. This is how I know I’ll run again, even if I haven’t gone in weeks. - MeeA

The best part of my day is probably the moment when I have my first cup of coffee.

I'm not much of morning person, but whether I’m sitting down to have the first sip, or rushing off to class and grabbing a cuppa on the way that routine gets me going.

Clearly I’m a bit of an addict, but my cup of coffee gives me the push I need to get through the day and enough of a pick me up that I’m positive about the rest of the day to come. - Bame

The favourite part of my day is when I come home and get to put my feet up (literally), maybe have a cup of tea and relax a bit before getting started on dinner, and if I'm really lucky I'm able to squeeze in a small nap as well. - Colleen

I'm a mom of five young adults so the best part of my day is after I've returned from work, cooked dinner and made sure everyone has what they need for school next day, I can relax in a bubble bath and retire to my 5-star bed... Usually around 10pm! Hmmm... Absolute bliss. My moment... My time. - Remondy

I am a stay at home mom and my favourite time of day is when I can have a warm cup of coffee . That whole warming up in the microwave doesn't work for me . My 3 year old keeps me on my toes and my time to relax is when she has her hour nap in the morning. - Elize
