This new charity is walking in the right direction

accreditation
Tekkie Tax is an annual charity campaign, where 16 welfare organisations come together and represent 1 500 NGO’s across the country.

They choose a Friday every year, known as Tekkie Day, where organisations, businesses, schools and anyone who owns a pair of sneakers, can step out and support this amazing cause.

Background check:

Tekkie Tax is under a charitable trust called, ‘The Legacy through Charity Trust’ and is a campaign of Charity Support Services. The founder, Annelise de Jager has dedicated her life towards running the Charity Support Services.

Annelise (shown above) has 25 years experience in marketing the NGO development in South Africa and doesn’t look like she’s close to giving up, a role model we can definitely look up to.

The Tekkie Tax campaign started in 2013 and has grown from strength to strength, raising a total amount of R7.2 million in funds. Amazing right? Various celebrities like Jack Parow, Sade Giliberti and Katlego Maboe to name a few are involved as brand ambassadors.

It’s tempting?

If you want to be involved, there are various ways to contribute to the Tekkie Tax campaign, you can buy a sticker worth R10 and there are five stickers available to the five sectors. You can SMS either ‘A, B, C, D or E’ to 44000 for a R20 donation to the sector of your choice.

There are five sectors known as ABCDE:
A – Animal
B – Basic Family Care
C – Children
D – Disability
E – Education

There are shoelaces, also known as ‘tekkie tags’ worth R30, with a sticker included. Then there are embroided golf shirts for R110, or if you’ll like to be an angel in disguise, you can make a donation via EFT, all details can be found on their website.

If you’re short of cash, you can contribute in many ways, such as registering for free as a co-ordinator within your work environment, as there are NGO Empowerment 12-month programs that can benefit you with a cost involved. And if all else seems to fails, do word-of-mouth by talking, tweeting, sharing or even taking #FromWhereIStand (aka shoe selfies) about Tekkie Day to the world, you’ll become solely famous.

Visit their website for more details on this amazing charity organisation.
