Many people long for a retirement house by the sea but this couple had a next-level dream: their golden years at home wouldn’t just have an ocean view – it would be spent actually sailing the seven seas and broadening their horizons like never before.

And so John and Selena Dickie set about building their beloved yacht all by themselves – even though they had no experience in  boat-building or sailing the oceans – and sold their bricks and mortar home in Johannesburg.

Today, at the age of 60, and after five years of full-time boat-building, their new home is all done and they can’t wait for the adventure to begin.
