Five people accused of involvement in this week's extremist attack on a Nairobi hotel complex have appeared in court, and prosecutors say there has been progress in the investigation.
Director of public prosecutions Noordin Haji says the investigations are complex and transnational and require sufficient time to uncover the entire "criminal syndicate."
Kenyan authorities say 21 people, including one police officer, were killed. All five attackers died.
