The mother of a 17-year-old Moroccan girl who was reportedly gang-raped, forcibly tattooed and held against her will for two months says that she fainted when two men brought her daughter home, the scars of horror stamped on her body and "her honour lost".
In an interview with the Associated Press, the mother now asks whether Khadija will ever again be the daughter she knew.
The mother said on Wednesday that she was "caught off guard when those criminals brought my daughter and I saw her in that condition. I fainted ... I collapsed."
The AP doesn't usually identify victims of sexual violence. The mother, speaking from her rundown home in central Morocco, refused to give her first name.
Khadija's account of the drama in Morocco's media sparked a public outcry.
