Grace Mugabe allies 'may have tried to kill me', says Zim leader after assassination attempt
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly said that a group linked to former first lady Grace Mugabe could be behind an explosion that rocked a stadium where he addressed his Zanu-PF supporters on Saturday.
Mnangagwa escaped unhurt, but at least 49 people were injured, while two others were pronounced dead two days after the incident.
According to BBC, Mnangagwa said he suspected that a group called the Generation 40 (G40), which supported Grace for presidency, was responsible for the explosion.

'Tight security' for Zim leader after assassination attempt - report
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly set to make sweeping changes in his security team after he escaped with his life when a bomb exploded at a political rally in an apparent assassination bid.
According to Daily News, there would be a thorough review of his security teams.
The report said that there would be an "overhaul of security agencies’ advance work, protective details, better radio technology and more agents would now be at the president’s side at all times".

Zim leader hints on plan to bring back dreaded Zim dollar – report
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly "hinted on plans to reintroduce" the dreaded Zimbabwean dollar in order to address the current issue of cash shortages in the southern African country.
According to NewsDay, prior to an alleged assassination attempt on Saturday, the president told his supporters that the country was in need of its own currency.
The Zimbabwean dollar collapsed between 2008 and 2009 due to hyperinflation, thus, forcing the country to adopt a basket of foreign currencies that included the South African rand, the United States dollar, the British pound and the Euro.

A young Somali man reportedly left many "surprised" when he married two women on the same day in a rare wedding in Sinia village, in the breakaway state of Somaliland.
According to Somaliland Reporter, Bashir Mohamed wedded his two brides, Iqra and Nimo on June 22.
Although polygamous marriages were allowed in Somali culture, it was unusual to marry two women at the same time, the report said.

A video of retired former Botswana president Ian Khama in a soccer match, has emerged on social media, with many marvelling at the lifestyle he has chosen after leaving the higher office of the land.
Khama, the son of Botswana's first post-independence leader, officially stepped down as president in March after serving the constitutional maximum of 10 years in office, according to AFP.
In the video posted to social media, Khama, in the number 10 jersey, is seen displaying some skills as he skillfully side-steps an opposition player to place the ball neatly at the back of the net in "world-class fashion".

6 people with albinism to contest presidential polls to fight stigma in Malawi – report
The Association of People with Albinism in Malawi has reportedly said that it will be fielding at least six candidates for the country's 2019 presidential elections.
According to the Guardian newspaper, the group said its aim was to show that people living with albinism were "more than their skin".
Albinism was caused by the lack of the melanin pigmentation in the skin, which resulted in lack of dark colour, sensitivity to the sun and a compromised eyesight.

Zimbabwe leader backs out of 1st rally since deadly attack
Zimbabwe's president on Wednesday backed out of his first campaign rally since a deadly attack on Saturday that has been called an assassination attempt.
An official announced to a packed stadium in Hwange that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was no longer attending, without giving details. The stadium was under tight security, with soldiers and police searching everyone who entered. Unlike at previous rallies, supporters were not allowed close to the VIP tent.
