Man's body trapped down 45m well for a week after fatal snake bite: report
A Zimbabwe man's body has been trapped at the bottom of a deep well for nearly a week after he was fatally bitten by a snake and rescuers were too afraid to retrieve his corpse, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
Twenty-five-old Sandile Mguni was part of a team of well diggers hired to repair a 45m-deep well in Makhekhe Village in the country’s arid north-western Lupane district, reports the state-run Chronicle.
He and his team noticed a snake at the bottom of the well before they started work, and poured a drum of boiling water down the well to try to kill the reptile. Mguni later descended the well via a rope, armed with a spear and a bucket, the paper said.

Man charged over Nigerian 'First Lady' email scam
A 48-year-old man appeared in court on Monday accused of attempting to defraud people around the world of $20.5 million by pretending to be Nigeria's first lady.
Julius Anyawu Uche was charged with 10 offences under cybercrimes legislation after scam emails were sent in the name of President Muhammadu Buhari's wife, Aisha.
The defendant pleaded not guilty before a judge sitting at the Federal High Court in Lagos. Uche was remanded in custody until a further hearing at the same court on January 18.

Moroccan in UAE arrested for butchering boyfriend, serving his remains to workers in traditional dish
Prosecutors in the United Arab Emirates are accusing a Moroccan woman of killing her boyfriend, then butchering and cooking his body and serving his remains to Pakistani workers in a traditional rice and meat dish known as machboos.
The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi says prosecutors in Al-Ain emirate say the woman was arrested on suspicion of killing her boyfriend of seven years after he told her of his plans to marry another from their country.

Zim govt warns pharmacies selling drugs in US dollar – report
Zimbabwean Health Minister Obadiah Moyo has reportedly issued a warning to pharmacies and wholesalers demanding US dollar payments for drugs, saying they should accept the dreaded local surrogate currency called bond notes.
According to New Zimbabwe.com, Moyo told senators last week that the government was taking action to remedy the situation.
"The pharmacies and medical companies should accept bond notes in swipe, RTGS or cash form. We are begging our pharmacies not to sell drugs in forex to our patients and wholesalers too should not charge drugs in US dollars to pharmacies," Moyo was quoted as saying

Children from at least six west and central African countries recently took to the the stage of the Africa Dialogues conference in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to tell the world about the future they envisioned on their continent.
The conference was held ahead of the World Children's Day commemoration, which falls on November 20 every year.
The World Children's Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954, and it was aimed at pushing governments to pay more attention to the welfare of their young citizens.

'I'll lead anti-Mnangagwa demos from the front,' says MDC's Chamisa
Zimbabwean opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has reportedly told his Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) supporters that he will lead from the front, the party's planned protests against President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government.
According to NewsDay,Chamisa said this during one of his "Thank You" rallies in Chinhoyi over the weekend.
Chamisa said that his supporters across the country were "impatiently" waiting for a signal to protest.
