Namibian farmer threatens to sue after govt leases 4 farms to Russian billionaire
A Namibian farmer, who claims he has been applying for resettlement in the southern African country for 15 years without success, has reportedly threatened to sue the government for leasing four farms to a Russian billionaire.
Reports last week indicated that the Namibian government recently agreed to lease four farms valued at N$43 million and measuring a combined 17 000 hectares to a Russian billionaire, Rashid Sardarov, for 99 years.
According to The Namibian, the aggrieved farmer, Asser Katjinaani, who owned at least 300 livestock, said the government’s deal with the Russian billionaire was "in violation of various provisions of several laws of Namibia".

Corruption accused ex-Mugabe ally 'begs court to release passport for a trip to SA' - report
Zimbabwe's former local government minister Saviour Kasukuwere, who is facing corruption charges, has reportedly been denied access to his passport after he had filed a court application to get it back for a "business trip" to South Africa.
The former minister in Robert Mugabe’s government told the court that he needed his passport back in order to travel to neighbouring South Africa for a business meeting that would enable him to import basic commodities, reported New Zimbabwe.com.
Kasukuwere said that his family depended on his businesses for survival since he was no longer employed.

Air Namibia resumes flights to Zim after briefly pulling out - reports
Air Namibia has reportedly confirmed the resumption of flights to Zimbabwe "after briefly pulling out of the country following an attempted seizure of its aircraft".
The airline cancelled flights to Zimbabwe a few weeks ago after one of its aircraft was impounded by authorities in Harare.
This followed reports that a Zimbabwean man was trying to sue Air Namibia for $1m after airline officials allegedly barred him and his family from travelling to Turkey.
But New Zimbabwe.com reported on Tuesday that a Zimbabwe High Court had since granted the lifting of the attachment of the Namibian aircraft in the ongoing case.

Zim's Mnangagwa speaks on foreign medical trips
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly said that foreign trips for specialised medical attention are bleeding the country of the much-needed foreign currency.
Writing in a weekly column published on the The Sunday Mail website, Mnangagwa said that the southern African nation needed to develop its own capacity.
"Many Zimbabweans are turning to foreign countries for specialised healthcare. This is very expensive for our nation," the president said.
Mnangagwa himself and other leading government officials have sought medical treatment outside the country.

Gabon suspends Cameroon TV station over 'fake' Bongo death report
A private Cameroonian television station has been barred from broadcasting for six months in neighbouring Gabon after erroneously reporting the death of President Ali Bongo Ondimba, who is in hospital in Saudi Arabia suffering from exhaustion, Libreville authorities said.
Vision 4, thought to be close to the Cameroonian government, reported on Saturday that the Gabonese president had died.
Bongo, 59, fell ill last Wednesday during a visit to Riyadh to attend an economic forum in the Saudi capital, where he remains in hospital.
