Young girls in Kenya are being taught self-defence on how to report sexual and physical attacks.
According to BBC, the training is given in areas where attacks have been prevalent.
"We want to equip girls with skills to prevent themselves [from getting attacked] when they get into an assault situation," says one of the trainers.
Boys have also been included in the programme to create a culture of "mutual respect".
A report by metro.co.uk says that at a school in a southern town called Kilifi, women are coming together to create an environment where girls are able to discuss sexual violence and early marriage.
They learn about their rights as young women.
Nearly a third of girls and 18% of boys in Kenya suffer some form of sexual violence before they are 18, according to a study published in 2010 by the UN Children’s Fund (Unicef).
