Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF ex-youth leader Kudzai Chipanga has reportedly taken Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa to court for allegedly taking his farm and giving it back to its previous white owner.
According to NewsDay, a letter dated May 31 from the Makoni district land committee recommended that Chipanga's Wakefield farm be returned to its previous owner, only identified Adndrew Dawson, "while awaiting to give the farm to Manicaland State University".
A Zanu-PF delegation recently toured the farm and told workers that the farm's ownership had changed.
Headlands Zanu-PF legislator Christopher Chingosho who was among the high powered delegation said their meeting with the workers was authentic and the former Zanu-PF youth leader deserved to leave the farm.
But,according to Daily News, Chipanga has since launched a high court application in which he cited Mutsvangwa, Chingosho, Alias Masuku, Dawson and James Chisholm as respondents.
In his court papers, Chipanga argued that he was given the farm in August 2016 after it was turned down by the Higher and Tertiary education ministry.
"The applicant, since the date of allocation has been in quiet and undisturbed occupation of the farm. I am advised, which advice I verily believe to be true and correct, that the respondents have no rights whatsoever to evict me from my farm without an order from a competent court or without due process.
"I am further advised, which advice I verily believe to be true and correct that the conduct of the respondents is only befitting in a banana republic, where law of the jungle is the order of the day," Chipanga was quoted as saying.
But Chingosho maintained that the farm had an offer letter issued out on July 25, 2016 saying that the farm must be given to the university, said the report.
