Painting “Mandela Day” on his Mercedes-Benz was to remind young lawyers that the profession was not about making money, says Durban attorney Comfort Ngidi.
Ngidi, of Ngidi and Partners, painted the words on his personal Mercedes-Benz S-Class and a Ford Ranger belonging to his company yesterday.
“A lot of young lawyers are (more) concerned with material gain than actually helping people, which is what the profession is about,” said Ngidi.
“We donated the use of the vehicles for transporting about 15 of our young lawyers to the school where we spent the day (yesterday) beautifying it.”
Ngidi and his team were at Sibusisiwe Comprehensive in Umbumbulu near Durban, planting trees and flowers and painting areas of the building needing touch-ups.
The firm has also set aside R20 000 to reward top achievers.
The paint is removable.
