For the second year in a row, the stimulating Abantu Book Festival will be returning to Soweto this year, and is set to take place from December 7 to 10.

The festival showcases authentic African literary work.

Last year the festival saw the likes of Fred Khumalo, Khadija Patel, Eusebius McKaiser and Don Mattera among some of the prolific authors in attendance.

Taking place once again at the Eyethu Lifestyle Centre, last year’s programme included talks by Judge Dikgang Moseneke tackling topics on land and liberation.

The programme for this year is yet to be announced, but if last year’s turnout is anything to go by, this year is set to be another hit with local and international book enthusiasts alike.

Some of the authors who will be attending this year’s festival include Gcina Mhlope, Lebo Mashile, Marah Louw and Redi Thlabi.

The festival has brought together a space for black writers to showcase their works, while engaging in dialogue about current topics, and is not one to be missed.
