Preorders for the latest Apple Watch – announced by Apple at its headquarters in California on September 12 – will open in South Africa on Friday.
It will officially be available in South Africa from September 28.
The new Apple Watch 4 with a near borderless screen, and electrocardiogram (ECG) abilities, will cost R8,000 for the 40mm version, and R8,600 for the 44mm version, iStore South Africa said in a statement.

The cellular version of the Apple Watch will not be available in South Africa.
The new prices are R2,500 more than the starting prices of the Apple Watch 3 in South Africa a year ago.
The watch can be pre-ordered by directly visiting iStore South Africa’s website. It can also be bought on FNB credit cards for R329 per month for the 40mm version, and R357 per month for the 44mm version.
iStore said South Africans can get up to R2,400 credit by trading their current Apple Watch for a new one, but this is subject to an assessment by iStore.

At the launch of the Apple watch alongside the new iPhone Xs, Apple’s chief design officer Jony Ive said the watch is a “fundamental redesign and re-engineering” of the watch.
He said alongside the ECG monitor, the watch had a larger screen and more monitors for increased precision.
“Apple Watch series 4 is a device so powerful, so personal, so liberating, it can change the way you live each day,” Ive said.
