Anything is fair game for comedians. And when real life presents an opportunity, you can be sure this popular funny woman will grab it.
Lately, our country’s judicial system has received extraordinary international exposure lending itself to quick quips and witty remarks. And sure enough, the criminal lawyer-turned-comedienne was taking notes.
During Oscar Pistorius’ protracted trial, Thenjiwe Moseley was drawn in like a bee to a honey pot.
The Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards nominee tells us that SA’s legal system has now inspired her upcoming project, Court 10 with Judge Thenjiwe. “I’ve just finished shooting a pilot for my sitcom,” she confides.
Unlike the Pistorius or Shrien Dewani cases, however, her show avoids criminal proceedings and focuses on civil cases. She
admits that it doesn’t follow the precise letter of the law, adding that it’s just for laughs.
The sitcom features mostly KwaZulu-Natal-based comedians. Sthe Khumalo plays a lawyer, Thenjiwe is a judge, Mpukane has a role as a court orderly and Simphiwe Shembe is a journalist.
