WATCH: Hundreds of swimmers take on Dublin city river in 99-year tradition

The Dublin City Liffey Swim has been held since 1920. It was originally conceptualised as a way to prove that the water in the river was clean.

The 2.2km course is the oldest continually run swimming race in Europe, and attracts hundreds of open water swimmers.
