Hi,
My name is John Siyapapa Madhiri a Zimbabwean who has been making an honest living in your beautiful country for over 8 years.
I write this prose with 2 objectives, too touch on the sensitive subject of my kind invading your "shores" in our multitude and also to have a say on the "race" issue and being an African.
Point 1:
Deal with it my South African cousins, some will claim allegiance with the efforts of Zanu PF and Mugabe in Zimbabwe, but mis-management is mis-management regardless of the perpetrator, and Mugabe has screwed Zimbabwe beyond belief.
I am in the minority among my black brethren but I believe colonisation and the injustices of the past cannot be resolved by BEE/affirmative action and Land Grabs. An inclusive approach that looks for the betterment of the entire populace is my favoured approach, bearing in mine, many unrepentant race protagonists from all camps.
So do not look at us Zimbabwean and think why are you here? Accept that until the stigma of the supposed liberators is gone those of us who do not support these policies have a duty to stay in the shadows if we fear the death of out loved ones. I did not come to loot and plunder but to make an honest living, I am taken advantage off, abused, and painted with the same brush as the minority who taint my name!! But I will soldier on.
Point 2:
An "African" should be any person regardless of race who was born in any country on the African continent. It appears from the various comments on this news website that African means "black" and for that reason our continent has failed to move on.
White folks do you want to be called Africans?
Indian folks do you want to be called Africans?
Gwafol folks do you want to be called Africans?
What about you my Chinese Chomies? are you African?
As I right this, a dark thought creeps on the horizon, is apartheid the only legacy we will leave our children? because surely being human sharing A, B, AB, & O blood types and 99% genealogy means we are more alike than the pigment that distinguishes us.
