A 40-year-old mom from Missouri in the USA has shared pictures on social media of her baby who died within the first trimester of pregnancy. She shared these pictures to prove he was a real baby after doctors called him a “medical waste”.
Sharran Sutherland said that the miscarriage left her heartbroken, but says she felt grateful that she was able to give birth to her little boy, whom she named Miran, the Mirror writes.
Miran weighed just 26g and was 10cm long. But Sharran, who has 11 children, says her little boy was perfect.
Pictures shared on Facebook show him with tiny, fully developed hands, feet and facial features, Express reports.
“I just couldn’t believe how perfect everything was on him. His ears, his tongue, his gums, his lips. I couldn't believe it,” Sharran said.
“You have those baby books that show you diagrams of a baby in utero but he didn’t look like anything I’d ever seen. I was just filled with such awe and amazement with him,” she added.
Since he was under 20 weeks in the womb, in some states in the USA he wouldn’t be classified as a baby yet and simply disposed of as medical waste – but Sharran and her husband, Michael (35), wouldn’t allow that to happen, The Sun writes.
The couple decided to keep him in the fridge for a week before burying him in a flowerpot under a hydrangea bush.
“He just needed to continue maturing and growing and developing. It blew me away. It was an incredible feeling. It’s really hard to describe,” she said.
“This world has done a great job at dehumanising unborn babies. The abortion industry has done a great job at that but it doesn’t just affect women who are getting abortions,” she added.
