A deaf and blind senior dog miraculously survived a 28-hour life-or-death ordeal that saw him being taken by a hawk in near-freezing temperatures.
Porschia – who’s 16 years old and weighs only three kilograms – survived a four-block journey in the bird’s talons before he was dropped.
The small, black poodle was snatched off a deck at her home in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, last week, leaving her owner, Deborah Falcione, distraught, according to CBS 17.
Deborah was forced to abandon her search around her home after temperatures dropped below freezing.
Fortunately she received a phone call from a nearby animal hospital 28 hours later and was told her pooch had miraculously survived unscathed.
It turns out someone in the neighbourhood found him and brought him to the hospital where they placed him in a heating tank.
“When I heard I said, ‘That’s impossible,’” Falcione told CBS 17. “How could she have survived 28 hours in the bitter cold weather? This is a six-and-a-half pound dog. She’s blind, deaf and 16 years old. I went down there and sure enough, there she was.
“How she got away, I have no idea. How she survived it? I will never know, but I know one thing: by the grace of God, this dog is still alive.”
To help safeguard your pet if they get lost, it’s best to microchip them.
