Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi has been cautiously aware and optimistic that the Gautrain Strike will end soon.

In a statement that was released by the Department of Roads and Transport on Sunday evening, Vadi said the parties had briefed him on the extensive negations held between the Bombela Operating Company and the United National Transport Union (UNTU) over the weekend.

“It does seem that an agreement is within reach”  Vadi explained.

As it stands, Gautrain striking workers will be consulted today on the proposed agreement and the situation may be normalized should a mandate be given by the employees.

“The Gauteng provincial Government is pleased that the parties have gone back to the negotiating table to find one another”, he said.
