An American man was months away from marrying the love of his life when he sadly fell to his death on a cruise ship headed from Florida in the US to the Bahamas.

Christopher McGrory was celebrating his upcoming wedding, which was due to take place on 1 December, with friends on the Paradise Cruise Line’s Grand Classica ship when the incident occurred, the Daily Mail reports.

The 29-year-old allegedly fell from the ship’s upper deck to the lower deck, according to US Coast Guard spokesperson John Lally.

Paramedics then rushed Christopher to St Mary’s Medical Centre in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was pronounced dead, People reports.

Marcia Lehmann, who was aboard the ship when the incident occurred, told Palm Beach Post she thought a passenger was having a heart attack when she heard the “code blue” alert.

“All we could see were pools and pools of blood and [part of] a white sheet,” Marcia said. “He fell above us, so it had to have been either the 10th or 11th [deck].”

Christopher’s fiancée, Jessica Arnett, took to Facebook to open up about the devastating accident.

“With a heavy, heavy, broken heart it kills me to write this as it all seems surreal but I should tell you all my sweet, sweet Chris was in a tragic accident and has passed away,” Jessica wrote.

“I’m at a loss for words. That man was my true love and my best friend. Please keep us all in your prayers.”
