A Russian man died after falling on a toilet brush that pierced his skull.

The unnamed 60-year-old from Istra slipped on his bathroom floor and landed face first on the brush, The Times reports.

The man was then rushed to a hospital near Moscow, where surgeons opened his skull in an attempt to remove the impaled brush, which had pierced his right eye socket.

Doctors cut off the handle but were unable to pull out the other part lodged in his skull because it was too close to his brain.

“Surgeons decided to open the skull and remove first the broken bones and then the handle of the toilet brush,” Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK) newspaper reported.

A few days after the surgery, which was thought to be successful, the elderly man was moved to a local hospital in his home town where he remained in a coma.

Unfortunately, despite doctors efforts to save him, he later died, Metro News reports.
